Itinerary Preview

Arrive in Yogyakarta Airport / train station. You’ll be met our representative and drive to the east to visit Candi Prambanan, one of the biggest Hindu temples in Southeast Asia that enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your journey in Candi Prambanan would be accompanied by the perpertual presence of the deities, the magical creatures, and folklores. You could witness the spectacular Hindu epic from the panels of narrative bas-relief, including Ramayana and Bhagavata Purana, carved along on the wall of the three main temples.

After observing some Hinduism artefacts, it is time to explore the ancient Buddhism in the nearby Candi Plaosan complex and also Candi Sowijan complex. Your extended exploration of ancient heritage in Candi Sowijan would include the India fables of Pancatantra or Jataka. The story presents morality values along with witty dialogues as the animals try to outwit one another by trickery and deceit. The stories that stay with you as ‘a special souvenir’ for your friends back home.

Afterwards you’ll be transferred to your hotel in the city. The rest of the night at leisure.

Overnight at Adhistana Hotel (Superior Room – Mid Floor)
Today, still on heritage theme, we’ll invite you to the mystical Candi Ijo. The name Candi Ijo is for the fact that the temple is located on the hillside of Gumuk Ijo (Green Hill). The landform certainly brings some perks as you will enjoy the pleasant temperature along with serenity and peaceful nature of the village life surrounds it. Candi Ijo is often overlooked and rarely pointed as a main destination for tourist, but it is our pleasure to bring you the new experience which pervaded with the enchanting myths.

Still in the same day, we let you be immersed even deeper in the history of Mataram Hinduism by visiting Ratu Boko's Palace, only four kilometers from Candi Ijo. This site is a palace complex which bestowed the greatness of Sailendra Dynasty (Buddhism) and Sanjaya Dynasty (Hinduism) of Mataram Kingdom. There is a small pavilion from where you will be able to savor a panoramic view of Prambanan temple with Mount Merapi presence as the background. The whole complex provides a memorable cultural experience, together with the silhouette of the captivating landmark during sunset as a treat.

As optional, you may have the dinner on your own (dinner is not included in the price) at the restaurant namely Abhayagiri Restaurant standing over the hill and you’ll see the beautiful Prambanan from distance.

Overnight at Adhistana Hotel (Superior Room – Mid Floor)
Today is time to learn more about the history Mataram Islam monarchy in Kraton Yogyakarta. Here, you not only get a chance to observe the preserved Javanese culture from the displays of royal heirlooms and artifacts, but you can also enjoy live cultural performances and watch the daily activity of the courtiers.

Only 2 kilometers south within the ground of Keraton, the glorious of the earliest era of Yogyakarta Sultanate is depicted in the layouts of Taman Sari Water Castle. While you are savoring the combination of Javanese and Portuguese architecture, a knowledgeable guide will overflow your mind with the history and the original usage of these wonderful sites.

Afterwards you’ll be driven to the inner-part of this city, the Kotagede Heritage District. Some parts of Kotagede are remains of the palace, the royal cemetery, the royal mosque, and defensive walls and moats. Those remains are scattered across residental area. Kotagede is well known internationally by its silver crafting. For that reason, we feel oblige to take you to a workshop where you can see the craftsman working before you try it yourself.

In the afternoon, we are heading to Magelang regency to spend the night in a hotel near Borobudur temple.

Overnight at Cempaka Villa (Superior Room)
Early in the morning, we will take you to witness gorgeous sunrise scenery from the top of Borobudur Temple. Borobudur is Buddhist temple which built by Sailendra Dynasty of Mataram Kingdom in the 9th century. Enlisted as the world's largest Buddhist archaeological site in the Guinness Book of World Records you definitely don’t want to miss it. There is no better time to appreciate the magnificent Borobudur temple and the nature that surrounds it than in the morning, when you can savor its beauty in tranquility.

After sunrise you’ll then be transferred back to your hotel for a breakfast and spend your free well-deserved time at the hotel.

Overnight at Cempaka Villa (Superior Room)

Your last day in Yogyakarta will be the memorable one. Constructed to follow its natural landform on the slope of Mount Merapi, visiting Ullen Sentalu museum will complete your extended adventure in the city of heritage. The museum has exceptional collections of the intangible heritages, which includes storytelling, folklore and ancient wisdom of Mataram royalties. The story is strengthened by unique relics, such as photographs, handwritten letters and personal objects belonging to the princesses. This is the right place where you can get extensive knowledge about batik and its tradition in Javanese royalty.

This afternoon, depending on your flight departure you’ll transferred back to Yogyakarta airport for your flight back home.
